I always thought I should take up fishing. Does it provide easy access to easy answers regarding writing decisions? I’d be happy to sit around in the rain for hours to be able to move on with my so-called career. On the other hand what I’m doing now, emptying my manhood in short bursts of 100 words or so every day or so, daily high and dry, may count as slow buildup to a mighty concern. It might also be the only thing my brain can stomach not being a stomach as such, while I’m still working to earn my keep using my brain, which fortunately is not a stomach but holds a lot of deep secrets thinly disguised as literature ready to be passed on. My ancestors weren’t fishermen they were neurotic artisans who often bolted from danger or lost years running after women. Couldn’t shake the danger, always got the women but couldn’t keep them. They stomached the experience, mixed it with good, hearty food and turned it into great stories. I can do that.
